In a world where taste matters and eating is pleasure, the dawning of IODIZED SEA SALT just made the state of being salty a little bit healthy. This turns any craving for a fine and tasty meal into an appetite for a more sound body.

It is indeed remarkable; especially since this type of salt is readily available in the market. Nothing can hinder anyone into putting a little extra nutrient or mineral into their mouth watering cuisine.

But before you savor that iodized sea salt on your table, try to find out first the thing that it contributes to your food. More importantly, know first what it can do to you.

SEA SALT

Basically, sea salt is produced when seawater evaporates. The crystal formed is actually a conglomerate of many minerals that is present in the water. These minerals are in fact ions or electrically charged atoms. These ions are the ones responsible for stimulating the taste buds for that distinct salty taste. Plus, some of these are needed by the body in small amounts.

Now, the one that is widely used is actually refined sea salt where most of the ions are taken away, leaving sodium and chloride ions only. Thus, table salt is said to be mostly sodium chloride while sea salt is also composed of magnesium, calcium, sulfate, potassium, bicarbonate, bromide and strontium. Generally, sea salt differs from table salt based on their structure, texture, coarseness, color and taste. Moreover, sea salt is almost all natural while table salt is processed.

IODIZED SEA SALT

You might say that salt gives you a lot of nutrients already. Well, these are just not enough. Salts should still have iodine. Unfortunately, with all the minerals present in sea salt, iodine is not one of them. Mind you, this mineral is very important in our body.

Iodine plays a major part in the action of the thyroid gland. It is used in its ionized form, iodide, which helps the gland in synthesizing the thyroid hormones. These hormones are responsible for the normal functioning of the body. Deficiency of iodine may lead to goiter, a disease of the thyroid gland.

Fortunately for us, there are many sources of iodine in our diet. Seafood alone can give us the amount of this mineral that our bodies need. However, not all of us have this kind of food in our diet. Since salt is almost always used to add flavor to our meals, an iodized version of it will certainly be very useful.

Sea salt can be processed so that iodide can be added to it in substantial amount. Thus, consumption of this kind of salt may give an individual the minerals one need to stay healthy. But remember, this is only possible because these ions are only needed in very small amounts. Excessive use of salt will also be disadvantageous and injurious to the body. Proper use should always be kept in mind.

Just as you thought that it is only for slimming, here comes 5 health benefits of a LOW CARB DIET to make you look at this scheme with a new perspective. Now, it is not only for trimming down those big bulges but it is also for things that you may not yet have thought about.

Basically, lowering carbohydrates intake means that glucose coming from the diet has notably decreased. This decrease is compensated by the body by using stored fats to create energy. Thus, it is believed to cause weight loss. However, scientists have found out that there are other advantages that may arise from this kind of diet.

Lowering Blood Pressure

A low carb diet is said to be able to decrease the blood pressure of obese individuals. Specifically, this routine decreases both systolic and diastolic pressure which means that there is less risk of developing hypertension or high blood pressure.

Less Risk of Developing Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease that is characterized by the inability of body cells to take in glucose from the blood to be used in metabolic processes. Diabetic persons have high glucose concentration in the blood and yet cells cannot use these molecules to create the required amount of energy to be used by the individual.

Now, eating a lot of carbohydrates will eventually lead to a high glucose concentration in the blood. Maintaining this high concentration will eventually lead to the development of diabetes. Thus, a low carb diet may actually decrease the risk of having the said disease by keeping the blood glucose concentration within the normal range.

More Protein Intake for Muscle Development

Bodybuilders may prescribe the low carb diet for maximum protein intake. For those wanting to develop their muscular physique, protein is needed. The logic is, the more protein you have means the more materials present to bulk up your muscles. With a diet that only takes in minimum amount of carbohydrates, there is plenty of room for proteins to fill.

Increases HDL Concentration

Scientists have found out that a low carb diet may actually increase the high density lipoprotein (HDL) concentration in the body. These HDL molecules carry cholesterol from the different parts of the body transporting them to the liver for processing. Thus, atherosclerosis is prevented and the event of having a heart attack or stroke is lowered.

Decreases Seizure of Epileptic Persons

A low carb diet makes the body use fats for energy production. This process, known as ketogenesis, has been used to treat people with epilepsy since the early 1900’s. It lowers the risk of experiencing seizure. It is possible that the diet alone may be enough to replace or minimize the use of anticonvulsant drugs.

Simply put, a low carb diet is worth giving a try. With all these benefits that an individual can receive, the diet may play an important role in getting what many individuals want – the slimmer and fitter versions of themselves.

Looking at those arms of yours lately, you might have some reasons to pick up an exercise book and search for ARM TONING EXERCISES. In general, you want something that will make your flabby arms look fit and strong. You want your arms to be one of those attractive parts of your body, something that you can be proud of.

Here are some suggested routines that you can do to make your arms the ‘arms of your dreams’. These are simple but effective exercises that will help beginners like you start achieving what you have always wanted.

First, let us have the things that you can do without any gym equipment like free weights and machines. These are exercises that you can do alone anywhere and anytime. You are actually using your own body weight to help strengthen and tone your arms.

Pushups

It may be simple and old fashioned but it works. It only requires a little space for you to move and you are on your way in developing those arms. For beginners, you may try the half body pushups first before going to the full body type. Set a number of repetitions that you like to achieve and increase it steadily as days or weeks pass by.

Pull-ups/ Chin-ups

Now this type of exercise needs something for you to pull yourself up. A little more space is needed and you can start. This routine strengthens and tones your upper arms and at the same time gives a good deal of work for muscles of your upper body. For beginners, set a low number of repetitions first and increase it steadily as you get stronger.

Aerobic Exercises

You may be surprised but running, jumping and skipping rope actually tone your arms. Basically, toning involves reducing fats and aerobic exercises do that. Coupled with those already mentioned, you may not just have strong good looking arms but a better body as well.

Now, here are some exercises that you can do using free weights and gym machines. At this point, beginners may need to talk to a trainer or an exercise specialist for them to get better acquainted with the gym equipments. Plus, they need to have an appropriate exercise program. Neglecting to consider these things may lead to injury and accidents.

Bicep Curls

This exercise lets your biceps lift a particular weight of your choice. You may use a dumbbell or a bar bell to lift. For beginners, it is advised that you try to lift first the lightest weight available.

Triceps Kickbacks / Triceps Extension

This time your triceps will be the one working for you. Try to be diligent in maintaining proper form because if done incorrectly, the shoulders may be injured.

Bench Press

This exercise is intended for the development of the chest muscles. However, it also strengthens and tones the arms.

Now you are ready! Try these exercises and see the results in just a few weeks.

Choosing food for a lot of health and weight conscious individuals may just be compared to a simple battle between a LOW CARB DIET and a low fat diet. Interestingly, their choice is not really about food but it is all about what their bodies would like to achieve.

Now, there is no point looking at these diets as a way to trim down those bulging bellies and to pull up those sagging skins. Yes, that perspective may totally motivate an individual but in the long run, this choice between low carb and low fat is simply about what kind of routine your body needs and desires.

Low Carbohydrates

Energy is needed even for the simplest reaction inside our body. Thus, we need a lot of energy just to survive even for a day. For most living things, this energy primarily comes from carbohydrates. These biomolecules are needed to supply the body with glucose, a simple sugar that is used to form adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This high energy compound is the one used for all activities of the body.

For a low carb diet, consumption of carbohydrates is reduced dramatically by twenty percent of the recommended daily caloric intake. In this way, the source of glucose is decreased and the body finds several ways to adjust to this kind of situation. It may eventually lead to the utilization of body fat to produce energy for the body. Thus, the person may be able to experience weight loss.

LOW FAT

Fats are energy storage compounds. They are distributed all over the body and are needed in synthesis of metabolic compounds. Although these are important biomolecules, they are attributed to weight gain and change in body shape, leading to the idea that fats in our diet is bad. Moreover, it is noted that excessive body fat may increase the risks in having certain life threatening diseases.

For a low fat diet, consumption of fats is reduced to less than thirty percent of the recommended daily caloric intake. Thus, it is possible that fat reserves in the body will not anymore be increased by dietary fat. Weight loss is possible especially if the individual is fond of doing some form of exercise.

WHAT TO CHOOSE?

The right choice of diet may eventually be based on what one is trying to achieve. Both are said to be effective in attaining weight loss. But this should not be the main reason for adopting such eating routines. If one is doing rigorous physical activities, then the diet should also be inclined to give the needed energy. In the end, it is just a matter of picking the diet that will eventually lead you to your goals, that is attaining your desired figure and level of fitness.

The choice is not that entirely hard to make. One just has to choose. The hard part is trying to stick to your choice long enough to have a slimmer and healthier you.

We have all heard our mothers and fathers, even our grandparents tell us at one point in our lives that we need more iron. Whether we look pale or not, we need a healthy dose of iron in our system. If the level of iron in our blood drops, we become anemic. Anemia is what the old generation used to refer to as “low-iron blood.”

The Importance of Iron

If the level of iron in our blood drops or is poor, that means we will have poorly oxygenated blood. If your body is not supplied with oxygen, your body will not function properly. Generally, when you suffer from anemia, you will have less energy to expend. This is why people with anemia are usually lethargic or inactive. We need oxygen to burn the fat in our bodies. This is also the reason why iron is needed in weight-loss programs.

Improving the Level of Iron in the Body

The immediate solution will be to take iron supplements daily. However, if one wishes to go all natural, there are certain foods rich in iron. A healthy diet composed of these foods will improve the iron status in the body.
Improving the Level of Iron in the Body: Iron-rich Food
These are foods that you can have daily to make your blood iron reach a healthy level. You will have yourself full of vim and vigor in no time with regular intake of these iron-rich foods.

•	Meats: beef, pork and lamb
•	Poultry: chicken and turkey
•	Liver, chicken and turkey giblets
•	Egg yolks
•	Seafood: scallops, clams and oysters
•	Dark, leafy greens: collard greens, spinach, mustard greens
•	Vegetables: broccoli
•	Dried fruit: raisins and prunes
•	Legumes: beans, lentils, chick peas, soybeans
•	Iron-enriched cereal products. For this you need to check the labels.
•	Herbs and spices: rosemary, paprika, thyme and cinnamon

You can try combining these foods for a delicious iron-rich meal. Now, liver does not have to be the only option for your iron source. Vitamin C also aids in the utilization of iron from these foods. Try to consume food rich in vitamin C to achieve the best results.
